Post by DerekFDue to a health problem I can't get to the races at the moment
Sorry to hear that Derek, hope things pick up for you soon.
Post by DerekFand am cursing the fact that I have only used my annual membership twice.
There's plenty of incentive for you there then
I only dropped in at all, to see if anyone was watching "Britain at The Bookies"
which goes out at 9.00 Mondays on BBC1. This weeks episode which is
on Iplayer, as they all will be, featured a Yorkshire chap and his girlfriend
the chap in the cap on the webpage.

He worked as health worker or something
In the progamme anyway he came over as very astute. In one race at
Doncaster a syndicate were running two horses. He alone noticed that
all the syndicate were gathered around the rank outsider, rather than their
other horse, one of the favourites.
He duly backed the outsider at something like 33/1 - but only for a pound.
He had other winners again only backed for a pound or two
He reagularly goes racing with his girlfriend, their only aim being to pay their
expenses and have a free day out.
The other main character was the golf tipster from the Racing Post
who regularly bets in thousands, who came over as a really personable
bloke, nice sense of humour etc. He also bets on just about anything
just to pass the time.
As a viewer you couldn't help wondering if this pairing was deliberate.
Basically if the golf tipster with all the bottle followed the Yorkhsire
blokes £1 bets, and bet in thousands instead maybe without letting
him know until afterwards, just how would things pan out.
Or maybe it was all just a set-up - they'll already have known about the
Racing Post golf tipster, but how about the Yorkshire chap. Dunno.
